Josh Tips

Josh is a favorite of many instructors and a really good horse for independent riders. He can get a little nervous when something is out of place, so being confident with him during these times is important.

Josh can be a little sensitive with the girth. He’ll swish his tail and get a little grumpy while making girth adjustments. Be sure to tighten the girth slowly and watch his behavior when you are doing this on your own. It’s best to hold the lead line and one rein while the instructor makes the final adjustments and during the mounting process.

With one sidewalker, it’s best to walk on his left side although he will tolerate one on the right.
