Donate a Horse

Most of our therapy horses are donated to the farm. A few have been purchased with specifically designated funds. Each horse is carefully screened prior to a 6-8 week trial process. During this period, staff and volunteers train and acclimate the new horses to the program. At the end of this trial period, the horses are evaluated for acceptance into the program.

If you are considering donating your horse, we place a priority on geldings that are quiet and steady, serviceably sound at the walk and trot and they must be over five years old and recently ridden under saddle. Original owners have first right of refusal upon a horse’s retirement from the program.

The first step to donating your horse is to fill out our inquiry form to the right on computers, down below on phones.

Horse Care

Horses receive ample turn out and every horse has a box stall that is cleaned daily. Each horse’s medical and nutritional needs are assessed by our equine director and veterinarian. Additionally, our horses receive specialized hoof and dental care from the best in the business. On average, it costs approximately $6,000 per year per horse to cover each horse’s care.
